Auxey-Duresses 1Cru Les Ecussaux, DomaineJessiaume 2017
Auxey is the name of the village, to which was added the name of the most famous adjacent vineyard, Duresses. Pierre Forgeot, the well-known author of wine books, considered the hillsides of Auxey and its immediate surroundings to be the first vineyards established by the Celts in the territory of present-day Burgundy in antiquity. There was certainly an active economic life in the region during the Celtic and Gallo-Roman eras. In the Middle Ages, the village belonged to the Cluny monastery.
